What does Aspergers 'look' like in the classroom

A child with Aspergers will often look like any other child in the class; however their behaviour can vary widely and can alter dramatically on any given day in response to certain stimuli.

"Aspergers children are self-focused and show little awareness or interest in others except for having an audience to talk to about their very specific and narrow interests". (Ashley 2007)

'While people with Asperger have an intellectual capacity within the normal range, they experience problems with social interaction, and difficulties understanding the nuances of emotion, as well as intense preoccupation with a particular subject or interest’.  (Asperger’s Services Australia)

Asperger children are often [described as] the bright science “nerds”.
                                                                                      (Grandin & Duffy, 2004)
